Our mission is to support and grow the sport of tennis in Santa Barbara
The Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons, founded in 1971, is the oldest community tennis association in California. Its creation was the result of a collective effort by a group of dedicated tennis enthusiasts who sought to create opportunities for young players in the Santa Barbara area. Their goal was not only to ensure the growth of tennis as a sport but also to elevate the level of junior tennis in the region by providing structured support and resources.
At its core, the Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons is committed to fostering the growth of tennis and enhancing its quality throughout the community. This mission is advanced through a range of initiatives that support players of all ages and skill levels, both on and off the court. These efforts include hosting tournaments, organizing Junior Team Tennis, introducing the sport in local public schools, providing scholarships, creating volunteer opportunities, and investing in our local tennis facilities—all designed to cultivate a supportive and enriching environment where individuals can develop as athletes and as people.
As a long-standing institution, the Tennis Patrons have had a lasting impact on the growth of tennis in the area, providing a foundation for the sport to thrive locally while encouraging sportsmanship
